Description

Carbon Black N330 Rubber and Pigment Grade

We are a bulk carbon black supplier of N330 rubber and pigment grade. Carbon Black N330 Rubber and Pigment Grade (CAS 1333-86-4, molecular formula C) is a coatings raw material used by paint, ink and adhesive formulators who need consistent dispersion, opacity and rheology from drum to drum. China Chemicals supplies it at 99% carbon in pack sizes from 1 kg through to 500 kg Pallet, so laboratory trial quantities and full production volumes can be sourced from the same specification.

It is also traded as Furnace Black, HAF Black, Pigment Black 7. Every consignment ships with a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis and the current Safety Data Sheet, and material is stored and picked under stock rotation so you receive product well inside its shelf life.

Typical applications

  • Reinforcing filler in tyre and technical rubber
  • Black pigment in paint, ink and coating systems
  • UV protection in polyethylene pipe and cable
  • Conductive filler in antistatic compounds
  • Toner and masterbatch manufacture

What Is Carbon Black N330?

Carbon black is an amorphous form of elemental carbon, produced by the incomplete combustion of heavy petroleum products under controlled conditions. N330 refers to a High Abrasion Furnace (HAF) grade within the ASTM carbon black classification system — medium structure, medium surface area (nitrogen surface area around 78 m²/g) — giving a practical balance of reinforcement and abrasion resistance without the higher viscosity of finer, higher-structure grades.

Applications

The dominant use is as a reinforcing filler in rubber: tire tread, tire casing, tire beads, tire cord rubber, solid tires, conveyor belts, rollers and general molded rubber goods, where it is valued for abrasion resistance, tensile strength and manageable processing viscosity. It is also used as a black pigment in printing inks and in plastic masterbatches for pigmentation and UV stabilization, alongside compounding ingredients such as Zinc Oxide in rubber vulcanization.

Handling & Safety

IARC classifies carbon black as Group 2B, “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” based on sufficient evidence in animal inhalation studies but inadequate evidence from human studies — a meaningfully different statement than a confirmed human carcinogen classification. It is not classified as a chemical skin or eye irritant, but fine dust can cause mechanical irritation above the occupational exposure limit, and it is classified as a combustible dust. Minimise dust generation, use local exhaust ventilation, and maintain good housekeeping to prevent dust accumulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Carbon Black N330 used for?
Primarily a reinforcing filler for rubber — tire tread, tire casing, tire beads, tire cord rubber, solid tires, conveyor belts, rollers and molded rubber goods — and as a black pigment in inks and plastic masterbatches.

Is Carbon Black N330 a carcinogen?
IARC classifies carbon black as Group 2B based on animal inhalation studies, with inadequate evidence from human studies. Standard dust control and respiratory protection, per the SDS, are the appropriate response.

What does “HAF grade” mean?
High Abrasion Furnace — a furnace-process carbon black with medium particle structure and surface area, giving a practical balance of abrasion resistance, tensile strength and processing viscosity.

Is carbon black dust explosive?
It is classified as a combustible dust and can form a potentially explosive dust-air mixture if dispersed at sufficient concentration near an ignition source. Good housekeeping and ventilation are standard precautions.

What packaging and order quantities are available?
We supply from trial quantities for formulation testing through to full bulk orders. Contact us with your required volume for current pricing and lead time.
